Family Fun on Longboat Key

by | Sep 17, 2011

Thinking of bringing the family to Longboat Key in beautiful Sarasota, FL?  Well don’t give it a second thought.  Longboat Key is known for its beautiful beaches, manicured surroundings, five-star restaurants, and high end boutiques.

Whether you are a retiree, young family, or young couple there is something for everyone.  Enjoy shelling, biking, shopping, fishing, golfing, and dining.  Longboat Key is just minutes away from the world famous St. Armand’s circle.

The waters are home to manatees, dolphins, and fish, along with a variety of shorebirds.  Our first class facilities for Tennis and Golf make for a great day.  Then relax in one of our several parks on the keys.

Looking to be pampered?  Stay in one of our many resorts.  Longboat Key Club has a private white sand beach, 218 newly renovated rooms and suites with private balconies, Island Spa House, golf, six on-site restaurants, tennis, marina, large pool and so much more.

Sarasota’s many cultural centers are only minutes away over the south bridge, including Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, Asolo Theater, Ringling Museum, Sarasota Ballet and Opera, and several other live theaters.

There are many family friendly things to do as well.  Take the kids to Mote Marine, Big Cat habitat, G.Whiz Science Museum,  Mixon’s Fruit Farms, and Sarasota Jungle Gardens, to name a few.

Need a quiet night out without the kids?  Enjoy some gown-up time and we will take care of the kids.  Elite Family Care has reliable, safe, and caring babysitters, so you can enjoy peace of mind.  Want a couple of ideas for great food?  Chart House is known for their spectacular few of the bay and great seafood.  Or how about a little Spanish fare?  The Columbia Restaurant, located on the famous St. Armand’s Circle is known for entrees like Pompano en Papillot. This is today’s version of a longtime favorite of the Columbia dating back to the 40’s.  Boneless fillet of Pompano with seafood stuffing of shrimp, crabmeat, artichoke, butter and white wine, wrapped in parchment paper and baked.  At the Lazy Lobster enjoy lobster broiled, stuffed, Thermidore, and steamed, as well as fresh fish, and many other seafood items.  Then take a walk around the wonderful boutiques on the circle.

There are many wonderful restaurants surrounding the Longboat Key area as well.  Anna Maria, Downtown Sarasota, and beautiful Siesta Key Beach all have great restaurants for any palate.

Longboat Key is a paradise in the Sarasota area and a trip to be long rembered.
